Re:Thinkpad T14 & T15 - First Look (review, benchmarks)

greenbar

Below are the pictures of my BIOS.  I dont think windows power mode matters.  I have mine set to better battery life.  Are you on AC or battery when you check for turbo?  Also i dont think power plan missing options makes a difference.   I have only 1 option which is "balanced".

Hi,

thank you for your help. I have checked my settings and compered with yours. Everything was the same. Finally I found a solution and I have to do a hard reset on my laptop.

Because people were discussing throtteling issues: I have some random throtteling issues with my T14s (Intel) that sometimes just render the system unusable (< 0.5 ghz). Not sure if I would recommend buying a T14 or T14s right now.

See this thread for details.

Thats old design flaw inherited from previous version T490/ T590. Core I7  + Nvidia Gpu would grill the machine to 99c as the heat dissipation system is not efficient enough to remove that amount of heat generated. Lenovo shall look into this design weakness seriously, improve the cooling system by adding more fan or introduce the vapour chamber, not only focus on making slimmer and nice looking machine.

Check here for the thermal throttling issues for T490/T590 which is one of the most actively discussed thread ( almost 200+ replies)

Recently received a couple of T14 AMD (4750u and 32GB). Has anyone tried connecting wirelessly to a display. Reason I ask is that we have a couple of smart displays we use for our business (LG and Samsung), and neither of these units will work correctly.

The LG connected and worked once, then wont connect again.

The Samsung (which is an interactive whiteboard), handshakes, connects but displays nothing. The interesting this is it will pass audio and touch fine though.

Anyone got the chance to try and connect up to a TV or smart display wirelessly and let me know how it goes.

I will never understand the soldered RAM design decision. The utter inability to order a T490 with 16GB onboard last year repelled me towards the T480, which I could easily slot in 2x 16GB to get me the 32GB I needed.

Would I be correct in saying from the images green5178 posted previously (thank you!) that the Lenovo T14's Thunderbolt port is connected via x2 PCIE lanes, and not x4?

I was really keen on this laptop but definitely need the Thunderbolt x4 PCIE lanes for my eGPU. I guess I'll look at an X1 Carbon?
