It seems like CPU Throttling is causing the issue in our case. After a while the processor frequency drops to 0.39 GHz and it does go up anymore.

One of the solutions was to set power options to max performance or to disable the "Lenovo Intelligent Thermal Solution Service" in services.msc

As A temporary  solution I have set Power Options to balanced and I disabled "Lenovo Intelligent Thermal Solution Service". The Issue that I am facing now is that CPU Fan is loud..

Hello Ronnybronny!

Welcome to community forums

Is it connected via the USB-C port or the HMDI port? Is it connected directly or through a docking station? If you're using a docking station, what is the model of the docking station? And also, how many monitors are you trying to connect?

Let us know.

Hi,

I am experiencing the same issue. It occurs when I have a monitor connected to a Dock and the Dock connected via USB-C port. It occurs when the Screen turns off due to inactivity. Unplugging and plugging back in the USB-C cable corrects the issue until the screen turns off again.

If We connect only one external monitor with Laptop Monitor (to HDMI or through USB-C) it is working OK. If we connect to two external monitors we are experiencing Performance issues. ThanksJ

From the information given it's not possible to determine if these problems are the same. One possible factor: "do not connect external displays to the [T14 Gen 1 Intel] USB-C (3.2 Gen 1) connector 1 and the HDMI connector 2 at the same time" (excerpt from the T14 Gen 1 manual, page 29).

USB-C: Just cos it fits don't mean it works.
I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

Re:T14 Slow performance while connected to external display

Displays were connected through USB-C Connector next to Thunderbolt and HDMI.

Today I tested connection with only one monitor through HDMI. I got same results. After a few hours computer becomes very slow. I also tried to downgrade display adapter driver but it did not help..

We could reproduce this issue on multiple computers (OS Version is Win 10 2004 19041.804 with all Latest Lenovo drivers installed).

Any suggestions?

ThanksJ

I'm also seeing this with three T14's (so far) that have a 40AJ dock and two external displays on the HDMI and DP (or HDMI and VGA) ports on the dock.

Specifically, the issue happens only after the displays have turned off after a set time (configured in the OS settings) and come back on after a user engages with the device.

I also have updated the 40AJ dock firmware to the latest version (along with the laptop drivers/firmware) and the problem persists.

The ThinkPad T14 Gen 1 (Intel) can support 2 external monitors and you can check it from the product reference here: https://psref.lenovo.com/Product/ThinkPad/ThinkPad_T14_Gen_1_Intel

The ThinkPad T14 Gen 1 (AMD) can support up to 3 external monitors and you can refer it here: https://psref.lenovo.com/Product/ThinkPad/ThinkPad_T14_Gen_1_AMD

You can try updating the display driver from the manufacturer(Intel or AMD) website or feel free to post a screenshot of the display driver details so we can check the updates for you.
