I too have received an updated version of the software from Lenovo - 3.2.0.275 - and this appears to have resolved the issue with the FPR causing the laptops to hang.  Still doing some testing but all appears to be good.  This is apparently still beta software but its working a lot better than the current version on the downloads website.

Having the same issue on a brand new T400, factory prepped machine.  Called into support this morning and they told me that 3.2.0.116 was current and had no info on a later version, even a beta (as indicated in this thread).  The response was to uninstall the software entirely, or uninstall and reinstall off the C:\SWTOOLS\Drivers location.

 

Way to go, Lenovo.

Just wanted to let you all know this is not just a XP SP3 issue or T400, My company purchased 17 T500's and 15 were downgraded with the XP conversion Kit and run SP2, so far we stopped the roll out when 5 out of 7 people complained about this issue.  The two who didn't are on Vista but they have other issues.  Hope they release that beta software soon.  FOr now it looks like we are saying bye bye to the fingerprint software.

Issue sound to be a finger print software. It also was stated that he had to talk to a manager to get a link to a FTP website.

This link should work to the 3.2.0.275 version - however this is a beta version according to support and you install at your own risk etc

I hope everyone is aware of the risk of using this download link. According to whois, the domain "lenovo-ts.com" is not obviously linked to Lenovo.

 

I hope that Lenovo deletes the previous post.

However, what I think is funny is the release date... anything strange about that date????

Hmm.. I have been struggling with this software issue for a few weeks now.  Checking System Update and this site and until this morning the version was the older version we have all had issues with.  Even if you run a System Update today on your T400's it doesn't come back with this new version yet......

 

Funny that they say they "Release" this version on the 26th.... GOOD TRY LENOVO!!!!!!

I have the same thinkpad.

 

I just finished upgrading it from XP to Vista Ultimate 64Bit - I did the follwoing to acheive this:

 

-Copy c:\swtools folder onto a disc.

-install new OS (I got Win Vista Ultimate 64Bit OEM for System Builders for $179. at newegg.com)

-As soon as install is complete, connect to internet via ethernet, and download Syatem Update from Lenovo website.

-Install Latest drivers - Some drivers, Like Graphics, will not load with even the manufacturers "latest and greatest" drivers.  lenovo updates their drivers relatively quick though, so just be patient.

-Install apps from disc you created earlier, if system update didnt do it already (I had to install Productivity Center, help Files, and DVD player.  the rest for me was useless stuff).

 

Whallah! - a perfectly working T400 - now running 64bit, and with an extra grand$$, now with 8GB of ram.  It runs like a top now.

Ok, so far the new 3.2.0.275 build seems to be working on our test T400 systems.  If all goes well we will be sending out this new build to the T400's we have out already without the software installed.
