T400 - BIOS doesn't work, desperately need help

2008-11-05, 4:10 AM

Hello everybody,

I had my T400 for about one month.

Today, after I have changed the priority of booting devices the laptop does not startup any more.

The only thing I see now is the startup screen and the laptop hangs right away. There is no possibility to enter the BIOS setup anymore or to boot from CD or anything else. Nothing. Just a thinkpad startup screen :-(((

Does anybody of you know how I could fix my BIOS again? Any solution is very welcome.

Many thanks,

Was there anything else cahnged other that the boot order? Have you tried to load the defaults in the BIOS by pressing F9 the F10 to save the settings?

Hello NiceMike,

Do your T400 has USB device (i.e, external HDD, USB card reader, etc)?

If so, disconnect them all, and power off. Then keep press F1 and turn on.

(Keep press F1 until enter BIOS menu)

I had a similar problem before. Somehow I misconfigured boot order

which was selected external USB device as a boot device.

I'm not sure this will help, but I would like to share my experience.

Best regards,
