T400 Battery, Adapter, 3G, PC Card, Size questions

2008-11-27, 15:58 PM

1. The spec sheet for the T400 implies the size with the 4/6 cell battery is the same, but Tim's thread on what sticks out in the T400/T500 says otherwise. Can I assume the spec sheet is misleading?

2.  Why is the flush 4 cell battery option not available for the 4th T400, the $1399 model on the US site. Sorry can't link since Lenovo have since decided to flip the finger to non-Javascript methods. Is there anyway to select the 4-cell since I get rather worried about the protruding 6 cell bit being prime target to break the battery compartment and itself should the Thinkpad drop. Honestly, I'd rather pack a slim UltraBay battery for extra power than the protuding part.

3. <Deleted, found the answer after more searching>

4. Is there anyway to get the Slim adapter in place of the original 90W adapter instead of getting it as a second option? After all, I get too many normal Thinkpad AC adapters already :)

5. Does the 3G adapter works with SIM from other operator, since my mobile provider is not anywhere in the US.

6. Is the PC-Card option the old type PCMCIA(or whatever it was) type? Since I have a 3G modem that sticks into either slot on my T30 BUT ONLY into the bottom slot of my current R50, it would be nice if I can use it on the T400 too, assuming the above 3G question gets a No for an answer.

7.Can anybody please provide the shipping size/weight of the T400?

Thanks!

Is there somewhere I can bitch about the crapness the Lenovo site has turned into?

Like did anybody in Lenovo ever considered they might make additional sales if people find it easy to copy and send a link to a specific model to a friend?

Or that people might want to know the physical dimensions of a portable device without having to download a 3.65mb PDF?

Isn't it like a basic marketing rule: make it easy for people to buy your products or they might just go somewhere else less aggravating?

Case in point: just the other day I browsed Dell because somebody told me they have a trackstick thingy too after I bitched about what a PITA the Thinkpad site had turned into. Now, I pretty much refused to consider buying a Dell for ages so that tells you how far a frustrated customer can go when she can't find/get what she wants.

The right place here for bitching objective criticism would be in the General Discussion board.

Hope this helps
