Re: Brightness cannot be changed after standby/resume-cycles

I have the same issue that I can't adjust the brightness after sleep sometimes. My system is up to date Vista wise. Not sure what to do. Trying to adjust the brightness in the power manager does nothing.

i am also facing the same problem intermittently. I am using Vista 32 bit and all drives and BIOS are upto date. Hope Lenovo comes out with a solution soon.

I also still have the problem. It helps to close the lid. Afterwards, I can control brightness again.

Huh ... closing and opening the lid seems to work for me too. I've set my system to not sleep when closing the lid (e.g I need to manually hit Fn-F4 to do it), so closing and opening the lid just turns the screen off and on.

Thanks izmi. Is there any way to mark this thread as "unsolved" though, so the Lenovo people will (maybe) take another look at this?

I have the same problem with my X200 running Windows 7 64 bit. Resuming from standby/hibernate disables the brightness keys and closing / opening the lid sometimes fixes the keys.  I can live with it but it's pretty annoying and it would be nice to fix this anyway.

I have the same problem with brand new T400 under Windows 7 Professional 32bit.

Even after re-boot the brightness control keys do not work instantly.

I'm curious how Fedora 12 will cope with this issue...

New finding:

If my T400 does react on display brightness level change keys instantly, I set the level, close the lid, wait for suspend to RAM beep, open the lid, and display brightness level change is accepted on resume. So every time I want to change the brightness, I have to suspend to RAM.

Not too nice for this price level laptop, especially so many months since introducing it on the market :-(

It is probably a Windows driver issue - with Fedora 11 live CD it works well.

Update 2010-10-01:

During 10 moths of using T400 running 64-bit FC12, I have never experienced this brightness level change issue. As for Windows 7, no new findings, as I do not use it too much - may be 5 boots during those 10 months...
