Re: T400 Fan issue

2012-09-07, 2:22 AM

successfully installed TPfancontrol

When I put it in Manual it comes on and runs anwhere from 2600 prm to 3000 rpm,

Is that good?

But now I have a new issue so I'll start yet another thread.

In my opinion, idle temperatures above 55 or load temperatures above 90 are a sign of trouble.

Stupid question.....Fahrenheit? or celcuis??

Also I installed HWinfo32, ran my T400 on a chill pad for 20 minutews, no problem.

Took it off the chill pad and 5 minutes later it froze up. Unfortunately I had the status box minimized and could not read the results

Celcius.

Also, don't use TPFanControl to change the fan speed yet. Just use it for the temperature gauge.

The fans do wear out over time. If you choose to replace it, make sure you purchase from someone with a return policy. Lenovo replaced the fan on my T400 a month ago, and within 24 hours it was giving a fan error on boot. So then it had to be replaced again.
