Re: T400: Problem and FIX for UK Conexant Audio Driver for Windows Vista and XP (4.92.2.0 2009/04/23

2009-06-05, 19:54 PM

I have just looked at mine.

As I am already running an OS in the US (en-US), that folder already exists like so in the case of ConiKost.

I have tried looking into this myself, and it seems that the error is indeed due to some missing files, as follows:

SmartAudio.exe (it seems like that SAIICpl.exe is looking for SmartAudio.exe, although the distribution bundled SMARTAUD.EXE instead)

Interop.CxHDAudioAPILib.dll (SmartAudio.exe looks for this DLL, but it is not provided in the release)

CxHDAudioAPI.dll (not provided in release)

SmartAudio.DefaultSkin.dll (not provided in release)

Perhaps Lenovo should also look into this and provide a fixed release for all of us here :)

Thanks!

Well I'm surprised German isnt working if Lenovo are providing the resource fiels for de-DE. Odd.

Guess this only works for American users no-one else!

Anways. Cut to the chase...

You need a debugger installed. When installed it (should) prompt to launch a debuging environment when an exception in managed code (.Net) occurs.

I believe that Visual Studio Express will do the trick (http://www.microsoft.com/express) - If that is a little too limited get yourself a trial of Visual Studio Professional - That's also free from MS site. I use the full Visual Studio hence why i'm unsure if Express will be good enough.

Hope that helps

Maybe you are using a newer release?

I've moved on to Windows 7 so can't actually look for those files on my system becasue I dont have smart audio installed anymore. Sorry

Probably worth looking in a previous release for these newly missing files I guess.

Have tried that, although it seems that the newer SmartAudio application does not like the old libraries... I am guessing they have changed something singificant in there that made it not work. I guess we'll see what happens. :)

Hi ateece,
thanks for your answer.

It seems, that now I've got no more crashing. After a clean install windows (just testing), SmartAudio now says the error, as reported by swg0101...

You are not getting the crash anymore because SAIICPL.EXE cannot find SMARTAUDIO.EXE.

If you go into C:\Program Files\CONEXANT\SAII and rename SMARTAUD.EXE into SMARTAUDIO.EXE, you will see that application crashes again.

If the old libraries exist in the same folder, you will get a different type of crash. This is why a clean installation would not crash, but instead tell you that a file is missing.

Here's how it will look like if the old libraries were in the same folder:

Ateece, thanks.   there is zh-Hant in the directory already.    Must be other issue here.

I can run old Smartaudio ap.  "\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\audioc\SmAudio\SmAudio\SmAudio.exe" and it's OK.

Hi all,

I have been following this thread for a while and now i notice there are some discussions in Chinese and Japanese fourm as well. It is cerntainly not an individual case. I've informed the engineers again about this issue, and hopefuly they will release a new fix very soon.

Btw, I checked some Chinese forum and they recommended to change the system language temporarily to US English, and it seems work. Give it a try ;)

Regards,

Cleo
