T400 w/Crucial SSD report

2009-09-24, 6:58 AM

I'm about 24 hours into use of my new T400.  When I received this machine I replaced the provided 320GB / 7200 RPM drive with a 128 GB SSD from Crucial.  The 320 GB drive went into the Ultrabay as a data drive.

Folks, this is one seriously high performance machine.  The combination of ultra-fast SSD (250 MB/sec read 200 MB/sec write) + 8 GB RAM + 2.8 GHz C2 9600 + dedicated graphics makes it just scream.  Boot time into Windows 7 RTM is 30 secs - of which, 15 secs are the startup / BIOS screen and 15 secs to load Win 7.

I've been around the block a few times with computers, this setup is really, really sweet.

Hello,

Because of your post I am thinking to buy the same SSD than you. Which model from Crucial you used for your T400? I have read that T400 only supports Sata II.

To put your 320GB in the ultrabay did you need a special adapter or somehing?

Thank you in advance.
