T400s Blu-ray burner Ultrabay Drive

2009-08-14, 1:18 AM

Does anyone knows if T400s support a Blue-ray burner in it's Ultrabay media?

I found ThinkPad Blu-ray Burner Ultrabay Enhanced Drive (Serial ATA) PN 43R915 at Lenovo site but it only says that is compatible with R400 R500 series.

Any clue?

BR.

The T400s use the ultrabay slim device, so it needs a ultrabay slim blu-ray burner, not the ultrabay enhanced drive, which is a lot thicker and only supported on the R series.

According to the T400s Hardware Maintenance Manual, it does support a Blu-Ray drive 42T2605, but I can't find any specs on that drive.

The 43N3215 which you mention is an Ultrabay Slim drive, so it would appear that it should work, but I can't find anything which verifies that.

Perhaps somebody out there with a 43N3215 Ultrabay Slim Blu-Ray drive and a T400s can enlighten us?

USB-C: Just cos it fits don't mean it works.

Why does Lenovo UK site offer the option of ThinkPad Blu-ray Recordable Ultrabay Slim (Serial ATA) in optical devices and Lenovo USA doesn't?    (Also a different system components choices i.e. 256 Gb SSD)

Is it possible to buy from Lenovo USA a customize T400s with Blu-ray Recordable Ultrabay Slim option?

sometimes it is down to customer demand, sometimes there is different copyright rule that prevents sale of such advice in some countries.

Try calling the Lenovo store. They may be able to customize with options not shown in the online store.
