Re: Touchpad freezes on new T410

Hi All,

Appreciate everyone's feedback on this. Just checking if everyone's Processes for the SynTPEnh.exe in the Task Manager is at taking up 25% or 50% of the CPU processing power?

Another vital information which I've missed out from the questions. Appreciate everyone could check their driver for the Synaptics driver which everyone is using. Do take note that you would need to use offical Lenovo Synaptics driver downloaded from either Lenovo support site or ThinkVantage System Updates.

To check Synaptics driver via step below

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Run
  3. Type devmgmt.msc
  4. Select "Mice and other Pointing Device"
  5. Double click on "ThinkPad UltraNav Pointing Device"
  6. Select Driver tab
  7. Check the version of the driver and post it here.

Example of driver below.

Do post the version of your driver here. Appreciate everyone's feedback again on this

Re: Touchpad

  1. Machine Brand (eg. ThinkPad Edge 13, 14, or 15): T410
  2. Machine Type Model (e.g. 0197-RZ6): 2516
  3. Operating System (e.g. Win 7 Pro 64bit): Win 7 Pro 32bit + Ubuntu 10.04(wubi)
  4. Bios version (can check it out by going into BIOS during system startup): I'm not rebooting for you.
  5. How long has the machine been turned on before the issue started to happen? Issues happen at a range of times - when I just boot, when I've been booted, blah blah blah - **bleep** happens whenver.
  6. What were you doing or what programs were running before the issue happened? See above question
  7. How you temporarily fix it? By system reboot? Or turn system to sleep and wake up later? Killed synaptics processes in task manager, restarted them - works fine.

So, this is obviously a global software issue.  Can we get a fix?  If you have any questions the answer is yes (did you try this? do you have the latest drivers? huh?).

Yes, it's ALWAYS at 50% (t400s) and the driver versionis 15.0.24.0.

I think fot T410 it's always at 25% (# of cpu's cores?)...

@Lenovo Staff:

First of all there has been no solution from your end. Moreover the thread has been moved to T series higher end ThinkPad. The problem also persists for EDGE series. Just killing a thread and creating a new one is no solution. Every time a new thread is started we need to give the same details again. There have been many customers giving you details of their versions, but there has been no response from your end. I trust the brand LENOVO so I expect a solution at the earliest.

Hi houtsma,

Yes for the T410 with i5 is taking 25%.

Just to keep everyone updated. I've logged this issue to engineering for their investigation on this. Will keep everyone updated once they have revert.

Hi amitoza88,

For the ThinkPad EDGE, that issue has been logged to engineering as well as that is a different issue compared to the issue faced for the T410 / T510 / T400 / X201.

Hi JameZ,

Thank you for the update. I hope we get a fixed driver ASAP.

Request you not to kill the EDGE thread untill the issue is resolved.

Regards,

Amit Oza
