Re: T410 keyboard doesn't keep up to my typing speed / doesn't accurately

Hmmm. makes me wonder if it does not affect all units.I wish I knew someone/somewhere nearby who also had a T410 or T510 to see if theirs does this. Perhaps it is related to the machine config as well. In my case, mine is a T510 Win7 64-bit with the Core I7 processor.

P.S. The lag is certainly not 'visible'. It is simply an issue of the keypresses not being detected fast enough. Like I said, I have to strike the key for a very short duration (you finger is like a fast hammer). This is different from hitting the key in quick succession. Just very short taps.

Actually, the T510/T410 use a different keyboard than the T400/T500. The new keyboard among other differences has new larger DEL and ESC keys and they've shifted the F1..F12 keys around.

Re: T410 keyboard doesn't keep up to my typing speed / doesn't accurately

i have almost the same problem with my new t410.  i just move from ibm-t43 to t410.

the new designed keyboard really sucks, like a bad keyboard from acer  or asus. I should strike every key very hardly to make it work , and if you type very fast, it just stops.  especially the up,down, left, right keys. When i press down the keys and hold on them , the cursor moves for just once and then stooooooooooops!!!!!  But  I"M KEEP my figure on the key!!!   it's really ridiculous!!!

there's no such issue on my friends thinkpad, like t400 , r400 ,x200 and etc. My new laptop drives crazy!!!

lenovo call it a "new designed keyboard". Boooooosh it !!!

And my left-channel of the sound device just don't work . I've check every properties of my sound device and the smartaudio in control panel, and even reinstall my OS, even have a linux installed in the T410.  the L-channel of sound just don't work .

I just got the new laptop for less than a week .

It feels like i buy a refurbished laptop not a new one!!!

i've planed to return this laptop , it's really too bad.

I am able to reproduce this on two T410's that we have here... Issue does not occur on the X200, T400, T61 and T43 keyboards.

Pressed "a" key 5 times super-fast, and the results are:

not a single key registered above... :) Yes, I'm on my own T410.

Hi Jzrlenovo,

Give me a few weeks before returning your laptop.  I think I've gotten Lenovo's attention and hope to have an update soon.  You may just want to open a ticket with them on your end so that you can get authorization to return it just in case none of us get anywhere with Lenovo.

I've started to learn to life my fingers a bit higher off the keyboard to slow my typing down.  Sucks, but I'm not going back to my T61.

I have the same issue. Hope you can find a fix to it - either a keyboard replacement or a BIOS update.

I really like everything else about the computer except for the keyboard, which is a barrier to working on it - which ironically shouldn't be the case since this is why people buy Thinkpad's for - for the "legendary" keyboard.

I had this same issue with the stock keyboard on my new W510.  Lenovo support sent me a new keyboard and this seems to have resolved the issue.  Google now is "Google", not "Gogle" or "Googel" -- except in the rare cases that i actually mistype it, of course!

The old keyboard was 45N2071; the new one is 45N2141.  Key feel is also better on the new keyboard.  Keys aren't as "loose", and better tactility when keys are pressed.
