Thank you for your reply, yeah, we should stay together to make Lenovo know this and solve the issue。 :D

Thanks for the feedback. We are looking into this. I can duplicate similar typing errors on my T410.

I just received a T410s a couple of hours ago and it has the exact same problem.

What I want to know is: Will Lenovo be able to fix this, or should I just return my computer immediately? This is a problem that I cannot accept.

I believe it has already been stated that it can be corrected by replacing the keyboard.  Most likely it is a production problem which didn't get detected.

Have any of you who experience this problem tried it with Linux? Just to make sure it is a hardware problem, and not any driver issues. You don't need to install Linux, you can try by booting from CD. Just download Ubuntu, but make sure you press F4 in the install menu and select the "safe graphics mode". The new Intel graphics chip is so new that you will otherwise only get a blank screen....

I have Linux on my T410 and I can't reproduce the problem. But I wiped Windows, so I can't try with Windows any more...

I haven't tried in Linux, but I did try this just in the BIOS settings screens when booting the PC. I could still make it happen there, so that rules out the OS entirely.

Yes. I tried booting up Linux before I even wrote my first post, it was exactly the same. It's a problem with the keyboard controller, I think it's only got 2-key rollover (sometimes it will beep if you hold down 3 keys simultaneously). I ended up returning my T410s as I was so disappointed with the whole thing, especially the keyboard.

Certain key combinations invoke the flaw, such as hv, er and hi. I registered this account on the ThinkPad and couldn't log in on my main computer... turned out I had mistyped the password twice in exactly the same manner, as it contains an 're' combination. This has never happened to me on any other computer.

If anyone wants to test it out, here are some of the words that, when typed fast, would get transformed by Lenovo magic almost every single time:

Berliner = Berlienr

this = thsi

hvordan = vhordan

I know a person with a T400s and it does the exact same thing. The most annoying thing is actually that the spacebar will sometimes invoke the flaw as well. I found misplaced spaces very often.

I am not a super fast typist. According to a random test I just took, I type at 70 wpm on average, but that was seemingly too much for the ThinkPad. I may not be a perfect typist, but I hardly ever get those specific errors on any other keyboards.

Lenovo is aware of the issue and they will fix it it, most likely by just replacing your keyboard.  Replacing a ThinkPad keyboard is a few screws, cable and viola!

Be patient while they figure out a game plan.  In the meantime I've been lifting my fingers higher off the keyboad between keystrokes and that has reduce (but not eliminated) the issue.

This is a guess, but I believe this is partially related to how fast the keystrikes are occuring in succession. Perhaps due to the firmer keys, the deceleration of one's finger causes the keystrokes to be much closer than lets say, on a T43 keyboard. Combined with whatever is causing this, the effect is more pronouced?

If anyone at Lenovo has any updates for us, please do post.

I've continued to follow this thread even if I haven't responded. The engineering team is still working on the solution. I'll be back when the proposed solutions are finalized. The prefered solution will be a bios update of course but can't commit that this will be the only solution.
