T420 VS Gobi 4000

I have a T420s and like to install a Gobi 4000 (4G) is it possible ? ,looking on specs and accesories the system shows Gobi 3000 only.

Shouldn't be a problem as the interface is the same and the 4000 is just an upgraded 3000 that supports LTE...

Sorry, no it won't work. Firstly, the BIOS whitelist will probably block the card (1802 error on POST) and the antennas needed for 4G are different. So even if the system will accept the card, the performance will be very sub-par.

It very definitely would be a problem.  The ID of the device will be different, and will not match the BIOS whilelist for a T420!

Hmm.  Odd that it would block.  Not saying I know everything but Lenovo even offers drivers for a Gobi 4000 for a T420.

Well, I should say they offer the mobile broadband activation software under drivers for the t420.  Don't take me the wrong way, just exploring options and trying to help.

Again, I am not being a smart a## - just trying to understand the working of Lenovo BIOS better as I am a computer tech and stuff like this is good to know :)

Hello. Is there same problem of partly comaptibility between Gobi 4000 LTE 4G WWAN card and ThinkPad w530?
