For the average consumer yes I would recomend they get a refund.

As a Warranty Lenovo tech however at my company, I don't get paid unless I repair the unit.

Ah, feel sorry for you, you have big ordeal ahead before getting a quiet laptop, given that nobody at Lenovo cares about it.

Mine has been silenced via software, however it is a bad solution, and I believe I am reducing its life spawn. Not that I care too much, when the laptop dies, that will be the opportunity for buying something that works better than this junky machine!

Well, i just did it in Device manager, open properties of that Lenovo device and on Driver Tab there is a possibility to uninstall. In dialog box check the checkbox to physically delete the driver from the disk. Thats all.

Looks good, but please be patient and explain this to me:

1 - How is that Lenovo device called in your system? Aren't you referring to your system's thermal unit? I don't seem to find in the Device Manager anything that even remotely appears to be related to it.

2 - So you uninstalled the driver, and then what happens? Are you experiencing any issues, at all? Does everything seem to be working fine? Does the fan still work?...

Thanks for your help.

Well, i just removed device form Monitor part in Device Manager, you shoud have Lenovo Monitor device. And after that, fan started to work properly, reducing RPM based on temperature. Simple.

Thanks. I'll take a try. If everything goes fine, I'll report it here.
