Re: T430 Fan speed

Heat is not a big problem for the laptop itself, but it is very bad for your battery. It's hard to believe there is a problem on a flagship product. My x230t has no problems related to heat or fan. T430 is supposed to be better in terms of cooling efficiency and noise level. Feel sorry for t430 users..

I'm very upset with the first fan-level.
My first TP was a x220i. First fan-level was around 1900rpm. The 3400rpm on the T430 are totally overpowerd and i think lenovo has to fix that. The T430 is one of the topmodels and such an issue is an NoGo...

Well, glad I found this thread.  Was maybe a day away from getting the t430, but noise from a PC is intolerable to me.  Guess I'll keep looking.  Maybe Samsung or Asus...

Same here. I was about to pull the trigger yesterday on a T530 (sounds like it has the same issue). Now I'm not sure - will probably look at a Dell Latitude (which I currently use for work). Sucks that they're willing to lose customers over a seemingly small issue.

 "Dell Latitude"

Having used several Lattitude (the last one being E6420)  but switched to T430 recently, I have to say my T430 is much quieter.

By the way, I also would see more granularity introduced into the fan speeds in T430. In the meantime, I will continue to use tpFanControl, which has worked well for me.

My current work machine is a Dell E6520 and it's pretty quiet (quad core). It's such a crap shoot. I really like Thinkpads but with my luck, I'd get one that sounds like a jet engine.

truly hope there will be a fan/bios opdate in the 2000 rpm range. The 3200 rpm is just too loud! - especially for at business/premium laptop.

Hi guys,

I just bought a T430 an I am about to return it! It is just way too loud if you are working in a silent environment!

The fan speed is just nuts. My CPU temp is around 44C and the fan is rotating at 3400rpm.
So from what I see there has been similar complaints since the launch of the t430 and still nothing changed, right?
Is there any hope that it might change in the near future? Can a bios update be a solution?

Best,
Harnz

@garnz:

You can either return it or download the free tpFanControl (tpfc), which has worked well for me and many other people.
