Hi Bonsai77,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I’m sorry to hear that you are facing the issue with failure on booting ThinkPad T430.

I regret to inform you that Intel Wifi adapter 7260HMW will not support for ThinkPad T430.

Below is the list of adapters which will support for ThinkPad T430.

  • Intel® 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection
  • 11 a/b/g/n
  • Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6205
  • Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2200
  • Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300
  • PCIe Half Mini Card
  • ThinkPad 11 b/g/n
  • Wireless WAN upgradable on selected models.
  • Qualcomm® Gobi™ 3000 chipset
  • Qualcomm® Gobi™ 4000 chipset - AT&T on selected models
  • PCI Express Mini Card
  • Bluetooth 4.0 Wireless

Hence I request you to check with removing the Wifi card if the system will boot normally.

Please click here to know the complete hardware specification which is supported for ThinkPad T430.

Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!

Best regards,

Hemanth Kumar

that card is not supported by the bios (so called whitelist...puke).

what u can try is to get a lenovo branded card from that series (72xx) and try if it works. i belive it wont but its the only way to find out.

bios can be modded but as i saw over the net its kinda hard to do it.

good luck

Hi lenovo,

this is really not acceptable.

Thinpad T series are one of the most expensive thinpad existing, we should at least have an option to force the whitelist desactivation in the bios !

Please consider whitelisting the 7260 ac chip (a lot of people want to upgrade !) and consider adding an option in the bios.

Regards

Hello everybody,

I also want to upgrade my T430 with the Intel Wireless-AC 7260 card.

I found this official Intel driver from Lenovo:

http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds036007

Does it mean that i can swap my old Intel Centrion Ultimate-N 6300 AGN card for that?

Hi Xanxdix,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

The driver link which you have provided it indicates that the driver version will be supporting for the entire Wireless adapter in that list, which will be available on different types of models.

That doesn’t mean that your system will support Intel Wireless-AC 7260 card. Please provide the MTM (Machine Type Model) number of your system so that we can assist you with the list of exact adapters with part numbers.

Please click here to know the complete hardware specification which is supported for ThinkPad T430.

Hope this helps.

Best regards

Hemanth Kumar

Re: T430- upgrade to wireless AC card intel 7260HMW runs on failure on boot

Hi Mr. Kumar,

thanks for your fast answer.

my model: T430

my Product number is: 2349D13

my Serialnumber is: xxxxxxx

Will lenovo add 802.11ac wifi cards to the approved hardware whitelist? I mean this notebook is just 2 years old and it is a business notebook which costs a lot of more (1600 €) as if I would buy a consumer notebook with the same hardware specification.

I already made bad experience a few months ago when lenovo declined to repair my broken left hinge of my display which is not only a problem of T430. It was already a problem of T420 and T410 and other Thinkpads! But this was officially handled like a physically damage by lenovo support. I have no idea how this could be my fault when the hinge breaks inside of the notebook and everything else external was not damaged!

So I already had to invest another 100 € in this to repair it by myself even when i added to the basic  "3 years on the next day warranty" 1 year up to 4 years more for around 100 €.

I was really disappointed and here it seems that lenovo just wants that customers buy a newer generation of notebooks.

So I hope some cards will be added to the approved hardware list.

Best regards

xanxdix
