OK, so I ran the windows 8 BIOS utility (h6uj03ww.exe) which ran fine on 7 as well and allowed me to get to 2.06
After that, the additional RAM module worked just fine.

Julien

Hi Jin,
I was planning to do the same upgrade Sharang described on a T430u with windows 7, though. I ran the BIOS upgrade utility and am now in version 2.02 (from 1.05). My computer will not boot with the additional RAM installed but works just fine if I remove it. Also, I am a bit surprised that the utility installed 2.02 since I thought this was for windows 8 only.
Best regards,
Julien

My T430u (shipped 22Nov12) came with BIOS ver 2.02 and it's configured with Win7 Home Premium, so perhaps 2.02 isn't Win8 specific?

Guys,

Can you please suggest which brand 8Gb memory module did you go for. The Crucial one is pretty expense. Any other options that you have tried and are working?

-Thanks,

Ankit

Re: T430U Ram upgrade

Sorry for bumping old thread, but I think it's better than to create new similar thread :)

So I want to upgrade my T430u RAM. This is my option:

1. Buy a 1x4gb ram, so in total I'll have 8gb of ram.

2. OR I'll take a 1x8gb ram, so in total I'll have 12gb of ram.

Then, what the best brand I could take. My only option is :

- Patriot SO-DIMM DDR3 PC12800 4GB - PSD3 4G 1600 L2S (1X4GB)

- Patriot SO-DIMM DDR3 PC12800 8GB - PSD3 8G 1600 L2S (1X8GB)

- Corsair SO-DIMM DDR3 8GB PC12800 - CMSX8GX3M1A1600C10 (1X8GB)

- Corsair SO-DIMM DDR3 4GB PC12800 - CMSX4GX3M1A1600C9 (1X4GB)

I read somewhere that there are some compability issues with corsair ram, is it true?

Thanks :)

i use Patriot 8 gigs x 2 in my T430u, and it works perfectly. Some cheap Corsair ram can cause problem, it really depends on the chip manufacturer (Corsair sources from multiple ram chip manufacturers).
