T430s Camera not attached

2020-10-19, 15:59 PM

Hello there,

My T430s Thinkpads camera worked properly since I brought the device. Than, after a regular skype call, the light of the camera was still on and I felt watched. So I asked my virtual assisstance for help and she did something so that the light went off. Unfortunatley I don`t remember what she did. The next day, when I had a skype call I couldn`t use my camera on skype and when I opened the camera app it said 0xA00F4244 "No cameras are attached".

I checked the settings and allowed all apps again to use the camera, but the problem remains.

Can anyone help? Being a student in Corona times requries you to have a working camera on your laptop :/

Thank you,

Sofi

What operating system?  Fn+F6 may give you what you want.

Same here (Win 10, 64bit, on T430s). The camera app gives the 0xA00F4244 error that Sofi/ Philofly also receives.

The camera has worked so far, but in my case I have no idea why (and when exactly) it stopped working. There was no virtual assistant involved, nor any fiddling with settings etc. on my part.

The function key + F6 doesn't help. (Other function keys, e.g. brightness, work.)

Windows tells me the camera is activated and that apps are allowed to access it. I already tried turning that off, and turning it on again. (I restarted, too.)

I don't know where to check (or update) the driver. c:\drivers\win has a single subfolder which seems to be for the mobile broadband/ WWAN. The device manager doesn't show the camera.

Are there no Lenovo supporters around here?

I had to tell the Device Manager to "show hidden devices". It showed two integrated cameras, and both claimed that drivers were up to date. I uninstalled both and restarted Windows.

Further help (first video with a friendly voice, second with annoying music):
