T430s wi-fi connectivity issue

2013-01-05, 5:26 AM

I got a new T430s but have got issues with its wireless adapter. Initially it seems to work fine, but after a while the wireless connection was dropped. Reboot the machine only solves this problem temporarily, after a while it would come back.

I already contacted Lenovo for a replacement machine. Believe it or not, the second machine had the same problem out of packaging box.

The cabled connection works pretty reliably.

Is there anybody else seeing this problem too?

I also get this problem with my new T430s! My rootmate also has the same problme with his T430s!!

I have to switch to my Dell laptop from time to time.

This really sucks!

No Lenovo expert is aware of this kind of problem ?

I tried martin1000's suggestion in another thread, T530 wifi problem (link below)

But rolling back driver didn't work in my case. If there is no satisfactory solution, I will have to return the laptop.

Hi zwemail,

What OS are you running?

On the right side of the taskbar, find the network icon and right-click it, then open Network and Sharing Center.

Does your system connect tot he network and not the Internet, or does it not connect at all?

Are all the drivers updated?

OS is Win 8.

Below is the display in Network and Sharing Center.

View your active networks--------------------

Unidentified network     |     Access type:  No Internet access

Public network              |     Connections:  Wi-Fi (my network name)

Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 driver is up to date. Driver version 15.5.4.45. Driver Date 9/12/2012. As I said previously, I tried to roll back this driver and that didn't help.

zwemail,

How long did you have the other system before you sent it back and how long have you had this replacement?

Can you take a screenshot of the 'Wireless Network Connection Status" window?

If you click on 'Properties' any information you can share will help get closer to a resolution.

You can use a picture program to red-out your SSID and other private/identifying info.

Also, go into the power manager, change plan setting, change advanced power setting and change the wifi adapter power setting to maximum performance.

I bought a T430s one week ago, and suffered the exact same problem as you. Have you solved this issue right now? Thx

Re: T430s wi-fi connectivity issue

The Wireless connection has been working much better recently.

I think the only change was to downgrade the driver (see my earlier post). I think for the first few days, this change didn't help as I still got random wireless drop outs. However, the wireless connection has been working quite well since then. I don't recall I did anything so I really can't explain why such improvement. I will reply here if I see the problem happens again. But so far, it looks OK.

zwemail,

Sometimes going backwards helps to move forward.

Which driver version are you on?
