Call them up, report the trackpad issue as a fault, say that the machine is not of merchantable quality (i.e. It doesn't work as advertised and certainly not as any normal user would expect) and demand a full refund. Worked for me!

There is a new driver: support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS034647 Should resolve the "sticky" scrolling issue.

Dear All,

I would like to write something about touchpad, for people who are wondering whether it's worth to buy T440s. I remember when I was reading this thread before the purchase, I thought that new touchpad is terrible and now when I've got T440s I would like to say that this touchpad works smooth and I like it. Of course I am not Trackpoint user and maybe that's why new touchpad works fine for me.

Regards,

Yes, I assume that being or not being a TrackPoint user makes the difference. I have found that people who are not trackpoint users do not complain about the clickpad - many of them even like it like you do.

Every TrackPoint user I know hates the new clickpad. For me (a TrackPoint user for over 15 years) the new clickpad is a definite downgrade. I have bought ThinkPads for their ergonomics, but for me the new configuration is flawed.  No more ThinkPads for me or the people in my unit until Lenovo brings the separate mouse buttons back.

I have a preference for the touchpad over the trackpoint. But the problem is not liking or not liking the touchpad.

The problem is the build quality. The touchpad was working smoothly in the begining (with some flaws) but after a couple of months, it become a nightmare. Now I use an external mouse to be able to use the laptop.

Karim, what is the manufacturing date of Yours T440s? Maybe You should go for the warranty to exchange the touchpad?

I  bought the laptop last December. I know it is still under warranty but I need it for work everyday. Therefore I cannot send it for repair.

So maybe You should buy on-site warranty? I remember that Mark_Lenovo wrote here that approx. in December (AFAIR) they made some QC changes. Your laptop has been made before it was done.

Thanks for the advise. Now that you are saying that, I might already have that with my company. I will check with the IT department. However, a manufacturer should check for these kind of defects in their devices before bringing them to market. After this laptop, I will never buy anything from Lenovo again and I will advise against it to everyone around me.
