The only simultaneous action I use is the mouse down + mouse move for "click and drag" operations.  This is actually pretty common for editing to move content.  This is the "tap and drag" bug that I referred to.

Hmm yeah I never use tapping since I find it too prone to error, but you're right tap and drag doesn't work at all which is surprising considering there is a specific option to enable it. Or not surprising considering the lax quality control.

It's almost as if they don't test these things at all. Surely one intern doing QA could test every feature in an hour or two..

Also like the other's I can confirm the scrolling issue after lifting off the touchpad and that it did not occur before.

ctolliday -- I totally get what you mean now.  I thought I just wasn't hitting the touchpad right when I was clicking, so had to click again, but now I realize that there is an inexplicably designed delay between typing and clicking -- if you click too soon after typing, it doesn't register.  It's dumbfounding.  Lenovo folks -- is there any prospect of fixing this?  Truly, the machine is unusable with the click-touchpad this way.  Thanks.

Thanks, CON.  I've made the adjustment and will give it a shot.  Oddly I also find that the mode is stuck on "trackpoint only."  If I change it to both it appears to stick, but when I open the control panel immediately after closing it, it has reverted to trackpoint only.  Not a big deal since I don't think I want to use the trackpad, but weird, no?

I love the clickpad. Whenever i am at another laptop with traditional pads i realize how much of an improvement the new clickpad is. But yes, you need to get used to it in the beginning coming from the traditional pads.....

I really hope Lenovo never goes back to the old touchpads!!

Do you use the trackpoint? I am curious because it seems to be the case that very few trackpoint users like the new clickpad. Personally I could not get used to the clickpad in three months. In our organization quite many touchpad users seem to think the clickpad quite OK, but almost every trackpoint user does not like it. My impression may be wrong because my sample may be too small.

I would be happy with separate mouse buttons, but would also prefer the old keyboard. Without the separate mouse buttons it is unlikely that I will be a ThinkPad user after my T420s breaks down (I picked it after I had spent three months trying to get used to a T431s)..

The clickpad-design has caused our organization to move away from ThinkPad-only policy.

It is nice to read houtsma opinion :) There is almost no positive attitude @ forum and a lot of people are only complaining;)
I have a conversation with long time Thinkpad user and he told me that new clickpad ;) could be hardly acceptable.for Thinkpad users who are using Trackpoint and get used to old style touchpad.

Re: T440s touchpad choppy, buggy

This is by far the nastiest laptop mouse I ever used.

EVERYTHING else is good about the machine except the trackpad

Lenovo,

If you read this, please give people that want to work an option on the higher end machines to still get a "legacy" trackpad that we know works.

Stop trying to copy Apple. Don’t experiment on your customers.

Got rid of my T440s and switched back to an IBM T60 with a SSD and got a new battery (BTW windows 8.1 run way better than expected on it. Even Visio rocks on the T60). I would rather travel with a much heavier machine than carry around something that is unusable.

I did disable tap to highlight, drag etc or whatever it is called. I don’t want to spend this amount of time trying to configure a mouse and then it still does not work as expected.

I will be looking for something else.

Cheers

I should also mention this doesn't fix the issue, unless I'm missing something and you can turn OFF palm check and not just turn it down. I don't believe you can, but I think that's what the real problem is.

Still waiting on this fix Lenovo.
