T460S Touchpad Problem

2016-05-31, 9:23 AM

Hi all,

Just received my new T460S and the touchpad is having issues when I try to use it normally.

Any fix for this or is it a hardware issue?

Thanks!

Can you please describe what is "normally" and what is not working as expected? Also, have you updated your new system via System Update or the Support web page?

Similarly, I have just recieved my T460 just 2 days ago. I have the same problem described in this topic and I will try to emphasie more.

The Touchpad is not tracking coherently my finger. At certain point of time, it pauses and become powerless to track my move, especially, if it is a slow motion. I felt it is low-quality sensor.

However, it gets back again to normal mode sometimes. Thus, I think it is software-based issue.

Looking froward for anyfeedback.

I have the same problem. I just received my laptop 2 days ago. Briefly, the Touchpad sometimes pauses and become unable to track slow finger moves. In other times, it gets back again in normal mode. I think the problem is not Hardware based.

Make sure that you have installed the latest Synaptics driver for the touchpad:

Re: T460S Touchpad Problem

In response to customer reports of unexpected scrolling and touchpad behavior on T460s ThinkPads, Lenovo has released a solution via driver update.

Synaptics ThinkPad UltraNav Driver, version 19.0.17.98, can be downloaded here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds111814

Thank you,

Hi,

received my Thinkpad T460s yesterday and installed the latest drivers on a Windows 7-Installation. Same issue, touchpad does not work properly after using the Trackpoint. It's not possible to use the whole Ultranav device... have to switch one of the pointing devices off for reliable touchpad. Seems still to be a driver issue there.

Regards

Hi,

Problem seems to be solved: installed the latest Synaptics Driver from Synaptics' homepage. No Thinkpad/Ultranav branding but perfect function!

Best regards
