T460s trackpad issues on Windows 10

2016-04-14, 0:15 AM

Anyone else have these problems with the trackpad on their T460s on Windows 10? Any fixes?

  • Three finger scroll stops working after sleep
  • After using the trackpoint, the touchpad becomes erratic forcing me to disable the trackpoint in settings ( which is annoying since the trackpoint is one of the reasons I bought this thing! )

I have installed the latest ultranav drivers ( April ) from the lenovo site but the issues remain. The release notes even say that three finger scroll has been fixed but in my case it is not.

I could not reproduce these issues with the latest web-release driver 19.0.17.77:

  1. three-finger scroll works before and after sleep.  scroll down to show desktop.  scroll up to show application switcher.  scroll left/right to switch applications
  2. I did not notice any erratic touchpad, so can you be more specific what you are doing/seeing?

These issues may be caused by non-default mouse/trackpoint/touchpad settings, so can you clarify if you have changed any settings to cause these issues?

I have tried just about everything.. I completely uninstalled all the synaptics drivers and registry entries. Then I reinstalled 19.0.17.77 and things worked for a while including 1-2 sleep cycles then 3 finger gestures completely stopped working again. Also, the jumpiness returned after a while after using the trackpoint. It didn't happen right away.

Ohh, there's also a new issue with this version of the driver. Try pulling up the Windows 10 weather or news apps and do 2 finger scrolling. It is very erratic and sometimes decides to scroll in the opposite direction! The older January release of the driver doesn't do this.

I can reproduce the issue of 2-finger scrolling in the News and Weather apps.

But I still don't see the other issues.

For the touchpad jumpiness I have resolved it by going to Mouse Properties in Win10 and disabling and then re-enabling the trackpoint.

The current driver not to play nice for users who switch between both, i.e. TrackPoint works great with touchpad disabled and vice versa. They don't play nice together....

I have the same issue. 3 finger gesture failed after several times of sleep. It seems there is no way to solve this annoying issue thoroughly but to uninstall/reinstall the synaptics driver, again and again.
