In response to customer reports of unexpected scrolling and touchpad behavior on T460s ThinkPads, Lenovo has released a solution via driver update.

Umm. No, still broken sorry. Probably shouldn't close out an issue until the users have verified it works!

 

Lenovo and Synaptics should be embarrased at how such an issue should still exist after so many months.

I have a similar issue on my T460p. Already had two laptops replaced as customer service thought it might be a hardware issue, each device has the exact same problem though (trackpad will stop working after resuming the laptop from sleep).

 

As a temporary workaround, completely powering off the laptop, removing the battery, waiting for 10-20 seconds and powering it on again afterwards seems to resolve the problem, albeit not permanently.

Unfortunately, installing the new driver did not solve my problem neither. Problem description stays the same as in earlier post.

Hi, just install the Standard-Synaptics-Driver. For me it worked...

Thanks! I tried installing the standard synaptics driver. This seems to helped the touchpad issue. Haven't had any problems for a while now. However it is not the first best solution I am afraid since now the scrolling function with the trackpoint and middle button doesn't work as supposed to (the mouse icon is moving when scrolling). Thanks anyway, I will stay with that solution until lenovo is providing an update.

Lenovo has identified several unexpected touchpad issues with Synaptics driver v19.0.17.98 that were not present in the previous version. As a result, Lenovo has requested an updated driver. I will post again when it is released.

 

I would like to gather more information regarding lack of three-finger gestures after resuming from sleep. It would be helpful if someone could post a video of this failure that includes the OS running and the version of Synaptics touchpad driver in use.

Hi. There is another long standing issue that is easily reproduced on my machine. When I use the trackpoint for a while then start using the touchpad the mouse pointer becomes jerky and unresponsive. This never happens when the trackpoint is disabled.

Would you mind posting a link to a video of the touchpad and trackpoint issues you are experiencing? It would be helpful if the video included the version of synaptics driver and OS in use.
