Re: T460s trackpad issues on Windows 10

2016-07-07, 2:31 AM

Hi Lenovo,

Actually you don't need a video.

Just take any new T460s with both trackpoint and touchpad enabled, and then start moving the cursor randomly on the desktop.

First move it around using the trackpoint only then try using the touchpad only to move around and click on items.

Looking forward to this being resolved.

I would like to verify the following step has not provided a solution.

For the three finger gesture, does deleting the Synaptics driver from Add/Remove Devices, rebooting the system, and reinstalling the latest driver resolve the issue?

Thank you,

I've reinstalled the latest driver. For the 3 finger gesture, the issue of being frozen still occurs when resume from sleep(not sure how long of time it takes to cause that issue). But the good news is you can resolve it by restart the computer, other than uninstall/reinstall the driver.

Hope it provides some useful imformation to you.

Thank you.

Re: T460s trackpad issues on Windows 10

Hi,

After spending more time with the UltraNav I have noticed that there is a simpler way to avoid the jumpiness of the touchpad.

Instead of enabling/disabling the touchpad/TrackPoint, I realised that clicking with the TrackPoint buttons after moving the TrackPoint cursor will avoid the touchpad jumpiness.

In other words, if there is no TrackPoint click following TrackPoint cursor movement the touchpad is jumpy.

I hope this information can be used to fix the driver!

Thanks :)

In response to customer reports of unsatisfactory touchpad behavior on T460s ThinkPads, Lenovo has released the latest Synaptics UltraNav Driver, v19.3.4.22.

The latest touchpad driver can be downloaded here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds118386

Thank you,

This problem also occurs when running Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Fedora 24 Linux.  Is there a new Synaptics Touchpad Driver available for Red Hat / Fedora as well?  If not, is one in the works?  With the trackpoint turned off the mouse is better except with small movements like grabbing the corner of a window to resize it.

thanks!

Mike

Re: T460s trackpad issues on Windows 10

I have use Thinkpads since 2000 when I started at IBM. Like many I adapted to the trackpoint and work very efficiently with it and has remained my favorite feature. Until a few months ago when I acquired T460s. I immediatley noticed sluggishnesh with the trackpoint. It worked but very slow and adjusting pointer speed settings had no effect.

I recently ran the driver update utility and took all the recommended updates including BIOS update. After that my trackpoint and trackpad were unusable. The pointer jumped around the screen erraticly and I had to attach an external mouse. To my suprise the behaviour contintued with the external mouse. Removed drivers and rebooted etc and no changes. After a frustrating wrestling match I was able to use keyboard to disable the trackpoint. I now have use of the trackpad (not a fan) and basically I am forced to use an external mouse at this point. This is no bueno when I am in the field.

Installing Synaptics UltraNav Driver, v19.3.4.22 has not resolved the issue.

What is going on?

Re: T460s trackpad issues on Windows 10

Dear Lenovo team,

after updating the latest touchpad driver I have issues with it again when using both, the touchpad and the trackpoint. The coursor is jumpy and hardly to control. Only when swithing off the trackpad I can use the touchpad properly. However, I would like to use both.

Also when starting my computer I can not use neither touchpad nor trackpoint for almost 60 seconds which seems way too long and not right to me.

This problem has been around for some time and I would really appreciate a proper solution.

Kind regards,

Max
