Re: T460s trackpad issues on Windows 10

If you still can try to RMA it, as it should not be having these issues with the latest drivers (only have problem when switching between both, which you can troubleshoot by only enabling one). All the best!

EDIT: If you have time, try factory resetting your T460s to give it one last shot. If not get the T470s which uses windows drivers directly not via synaptics, or the T470 which looks to be less clunky than the T460 (I would have gotten the T470 had I knew).

Hi Lenovo Team,

I'm also still having this issue where both do not work properly together.

The only workaround as mentioned here and since my post months ago is to disable and enable any one of the methods.

Please solve this ASAP.

Not sure about the 60second thing, did you manually edit startup or service settings?

Want to update that after resetting the settings on the latest driver, the jumpy issues have been resolved for now. Thanks Lenovo.

Re: T460s trackpad issues on Windows 10

Hi lenovo team,

after a while without any problems, today, the mouse started to get jumpy again. Again the only thing that seems to work is to de-activate the touchpoint. However I want to use both.

Could this be a hardware problem? Help please, it is getting super frustraiting.

Many thanks and regards,

Max

Re: T460s trackpad issues on Windows 10

2017-03-31, 14:08 PM

I seem to have the same issue after updating the driver to 19.3.4.61 on Windows. Issue is also there on Ubuntu 17.04 - beta.

I just bought the T460s but it seems that the touchpad stops working after using the trackpoint for a while. Really frustrating and makes the mouse unusable.

Gives me the impression that the trackpoint has higher priority than the touchpad... it seems to be registering false inputs on the trackpoint so then it ignores the touchpad completely.

Again, I could disable the trackpoint and then the touchpad works perfectly fine. But then why would I need a Thinkpad? The trackpoint was one the reasons I bought this laptop...

First time I ever bought from Lenovo... I expected much better from the Thinkpad line.

Anyone have any workarounds for Windows or Ubuntu?
Lenovo, some help here?

EDIT: Guess it's a hit and miss. No one knows.

Tried downgrading the drivers to a previous version, tried reinstalling Windows 10 with proper drivers and it still won't work properly.

Going to return it. Never expected this from a Thinkpad, especially since it's a business grade laptop and not refurbished. Good build quality but suprisingly poor drivers and poor support from Lenovo.

Hopefully it's just my unit that is defective, but it seems like I'm not the only one.

Good luck to others with similar issues, hopefully Lenovo can kick Synaptics into place.

After updating the driver to 19.3.4.61 on Windows I have the exact same situation. It actually got worse. Before the update the mouse was jumpy only when using the trackpad, now it is useless and not working at all. The only "workaround" is switching off the trackpoint on my device. Not really a solution though.

I have used my device for almost a year now. However I hope I can get a new one, that is working probably...

Yup I'm having problems again every now and then.

If I could return it I would but I can't :/

In addition to jumpiness, the synaptics interface keeps disabling my two-finger-tap for right click option at every other reboot :(

Re: T460s trackpad issues on Windows 10

Hi Lenovo team,

after updating to version 19.3.4.83 (release date 8th May 2017) the trackpad does work slightly better when both the trackpad and trackpoint are activated. However, the trackpad is still jumpy, meaning not reacting to input for a fraction of a second. This happens roughly once a second.

I got a new trackpad from your support crew built into my machine this morning. Still not working. Their idea is to keep replacing hardware until the issue is solved. Next they want to replace the mainboard which they already ordered. Seems like a very inefficient and pricey strategy so I would appreciate a driver that eventually works.

Regards,

Max

The problem was solved on my machine by replacing: touchpad, mainboard and keyboard (Sequentially in that order).
