T460s with Samsung EVO 960 1TB

2017-04-13, 7:39 AM

As some people have asked about compatibility of the Samsung EVO 960 1TB with T460s I just wanted to report that my new T460s (20FAS5JY00) works great with this drive under Linux.

Drive is really fast, giving it a test run now by syncing the full Ethereum blockchain.

I also upgraded to kernel 4.11 to try the newly merged NVMe patches (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Solid_State_Drives/NVMe#NVME_Power_Saving_Patch) and they appear to be working (see log below). I haven't measured power consumption though.

Also in case it's useful for someone: I got this memory stick for a total of 24GB and it works great: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Single-PC4-17000-SODIMM-260-Pin/dp/B015YPB6HQ

Re: T460s with Samsung EVO 960 1TB

I did use the Samsung EVO 960 500GB in the T460s under Windows 10 and it did work verry well.
It does also work great in my new T470s.

Just make sure if you use Windows to install the drivers from Samsungs webbpage.

And don't buy the 256GB as it's to slow and throttles when it under load.
