T470p heating on the bottom during suspend to RAM

2018-05-31, 9:23 AM

Hello,

I have Lenovo T470p in configuration quad core, 32GB Ram and bigger battery. After suspend to RAM is LED on lid regularly slowly blinking but on the bottom (under touchpad) is place where is higher temperature. Next thing which is strange is that laptop in suspend mode eats full charged battery in 6 hours.

My distro:

* Arch linux

* Kernel: 4.16.12-1-ARCH

Can I ask you for help, please?

Do you have Kingston memory?  If not, ignore the rest of this message.  If you do, then do a search, as I have seen where some have had this problem with their T470 (without the P), however they were not running Linux.  I have Kingston, but I don't have this problem on my T470 with either Linux Mint, Centos or Windows, so I imagine it is part number specific.

Hello pjc123!

Thx for your reply. I checked my RAM during weekend and found out I have Crucial (I think is product one: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/ct2k16g4sfd824a ).

I had disassembled laptop and can confirm, that heating comes from RAM. Next thing which I marked is that during suspend to RAM is led control for mute ON. That's seems to me that process for suspend to RAM is not completed.

Any idea what I can do next?

My mistake, the problem is with Crucial RAM, not Kingston.  See here:
