Unfortunately, I can not find one. But feel free to ask the support team about it.

Recent Win10 versions have an incompatibility with these older Samsung NVMe SSDs.  To work-around it, you can either rollback to a previous Win10 version (I think, 1909 or older), or else import this registry, reboot, and try again.  See attached file and rename from TXT or REG.

This helped me too

Thanks! First useful answer in a month throughout multiple Lenovo support options! What does the registry entry do exactly? Cheers!

Re:T470s critical SSD Firmware update - NVMe Solid State Drive Firmware Update Utility not working

Newer NVMe SSDs have the ability to update firmware without rebooting the PC.  Microsoft just added support for this starting in 20H1, but broke compatibility with some older NVMe SSDs (like yours) which do not support this.  So Microsoft told us this registry entry to disable their new 20H1 feature so that firmware can still be updated on older NVMe SSD.

Thanks a lot! Seems to work - finally! Was about to give up on Lenovo support. First knowledgeable one I came across in this long, long chain of playing CS ping-pong.

Good to hear it is working now. You can also mark as resolved the steps provided by someotherguy so it can easily be browsed by fellow users who have the same concern.

Regards
