T470s is only discharging one battery at the time

2021-07-14, 16:40 PM

Hello everyone,

I got the T470s and I recently changed the smaller battery for a new one (original). After changing the battery it "split" the battery display in two.

Now it handles them like two separate battery and discharges one at the time. I'm worried about the batterylife, when only one battery discharges and charges more frequent than the other one.

Is there a quick fix to join them back together, so that the discharge at the same time?

Thank you.

Hi Tom Orrow!

Welcome to community forums

Just to clarify, does your machine has both internal and external battery?

Could you send a screenshot of the battery display in two?

And also, what is the OS version and BIOS version running on your machine?

Let us know.

Thank you, for the quick reply.

I'm running the latest Windows 10 version, my bios version is N1WET62W (1.41 ). My machine type is 20HF0047GE, if that helps in any way.

Both of the batterys are internal. I can only access them, if I open the bottem lid.

The screenshot of the battery split is attached.

Thank you

This is how it's always been on T470s, only 1 battery at a time can be charged or discharged, and Windows sees 2 separate batteries.  If you previously saw only 1 battery, it means the other battery was completely dead and not being used at all.

Thank you, I think the other battery didn't work.

Wow what a bad way to charge them, does anyone know if I can change that?

I'm worried that the battery dies again.

Perhaps having more charging time before usage can help.
