T480 BSOD/Restart

2019-05-20, 19:46 PM

Hello everyone,

Been having this weird bsod/restart issue after ugrade from hdd to ssd (MUCH NEEDED UPGRADE), all drivers are upto data, BIOS as well., this is a T480 with NVIDIAMX150. I have observed when the system is usually going to sleep or getting out of sleep this bsod/restart is triggered.

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

POP_ETW_EVENT_DIRTY_TRANSITION (but POP_ETW_EVENT_DIRTY_SLEEP in 6.0)

Event ID:41
Version:0 6.0 only
2 6.1 only
3 6.2 and higher
Channel:8System
Level:1win:Critical
Task:63DirtyTransition6.1 and higher
Keyword:0x80000000`00000002po:Simple6.0 to 6.3
0x80002000`00000002po:Simple
ms:Telemetry

BugcheckCode
BugcheckParameter1
BugcheckParameter2
BugcheckParameter3
BugcheckParameter4
SleepInProgress

BootAppStatus 6.2 and higher

Any pointers would be highly appreitated.

Hi iarjunk!

Welcome to the Community Forums!

The error message POP_ETW_EVENT_DIRTY_TRANSITION means that while the machine waking from sleep either the Operating system or a driver is causing the issue.

You can try turning off hybrid sleep follow these instructions:

1. Click on Start button (or Win-X Power User Menu in Windows 10 / 8.1 / 8), then go to Control Panel .
2. Click on System and Maintenance link, then click on Power Options to run the applet.
3. Click on Change plan settings under the active selected power plan, i.e. the one which are ticked.
4. On the “Change settings for the plan” page, click on Change advanced power settings.
5. On the “Advanced settings” tab of “Power Options”, expand Sleep tree, then expand Allow hybrid sleep subtree.

Depending on your computer power configuration, you will see different options available:

5a. For desktop computer relying on AC power, select On from the drop-down list of “Settings” option. On this system on direct current, it’s best to use Hybrid Sleep to ensure that system state is intact when memory is losing power.

5b. For notebook and laptop computer or probably those on UPS, there are 2 settings available – “On battery” and “Plugged in”. Select Off from the drop-down list as the value for both options.

Click on bottom “OK” button when done.
Click “Save changes” if the button is not grayed out.

If this does not work you can try updating Windows to get the latest patch and bug fixes for the OS.

Let us know if this helps out. Thanks.

Dear Jack,

Thank you for your response, i have been keeping an eye on the updates and after an internal graphic driver update its been 7 days now i have not seen the error coming up. I will keep monitoring this for few more days.

Now i am observing something else, that my battery at times dies really quick like 4hrs max. The health of both the batteries is show as good with the Lenovo Vantage app. Any suggestions on this one?

Try doing a clean boot https://support.microsoft.com/en-ph/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows on your computer to remove some of the unwanted running background apps on your computer.

Regards,

Hi! For some reasons, we were not able to open the dropbox file. Anyway, run the update from the Lenovo Vantage app and install all available update then observe the battery.
