T480 Black Screen

After using a new ThinkPad T480 for a few days I have encountered a black screen after powering on the ThinkPad from a powered off state. The keyboard isn't responding (toggling Capslock doesn't work, and entering the firmware setup screen doesn't work when pressing Enter). Tried the Shift+F8 method but that doesn't work either.

Replugging the AC adapter cable to the ThinkPad after it is powered off causes the power button to blink a few times. When the ThinkPad is powered on and the AC adapter cable is replugged the power button blink's once.

Upon listening closely to the ThinkPad (after its powered on) I can hear a strange click sound that occurs every second.

Unplug, remove the main battery, and try resetting by lightly pressing a straightened paper clip into the emergency reset hole.  Left center of back, to the left of the big vents

Had a chat with a Lenovo service representative who said that the ThinkPad is likely to have a faulty Motherboard, although the HDD might also be faulty as well. Hearing strange clicking sounds every second near the ThinkPad logo (on the base) when the ThinkPad is powered on. Resetting doesn't resolve the black screen issue.
