T480 Charger / battery woes

2021-06-19, 2:33 AM

I recently purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad t480 (~7 months ago).

Today, when  I plugged in the charge cord and powered it on, the charge light flashed rapidly while the battery charged very, very slowly.

The charge plug also was rather loose in the socket. When I powered on my machine, the BIOS warned me that the USB-C cable's wattage was too low.

I plugged the charge cord into the adjacent port, which was very tight and snug, and able to charge the laptop as expected.

Now for my problem:

1. Do I need a new charger?

My charger does not seem to be good at all for the place where I've been plugging it in for ~7 months, but it seems to work fine in what I assume is an alternate charger slot.

2. Do I need a new part?

Can the part of the laptop where the charger plug is inserted be easily replaced?

3. Do I need a new laptop?

And if so, would my warranty cover it?
