T510 / Win XP SP3 32 / drivers

2010-07-05, 9:24 AM

Hello.

We're putting image on our new T510's (4384-WDS), and I have a driver problem.

There is no driver-only for biometric coprocessor, and we don't want to install whole Lenovo app for it.

Any suggestions how to install it?

If you don't want to use the fingerprint reader you could disable the sensor from BIOS. I'm not 100% sure if that will prevent windows from seeing the sensor or if you still need the driver though.

If you want to install the driver only you could check if the driver is available from windowsupdate. You could also download the software from Lenovo and install on one computer then copy the drivers folder only which will be under "C:\Program Files\ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software\Drivers" by default. Try to install on the other computer by using update driver from device manager and see if that will work. Another option would be to download the driver from Upek (link below) and update from device manager pointing to the folder where you extract the driver.

There are two driver packages available, but you will find an explanation that will tell you the difference.

Hello.

1. Windowsupdate failed. Could be it might work for someone else, since we have some strange policy limitations.

2. Software installation succeded, but copy & install failed due to missing .inf file

3. UPEK's 2.19C_package.zip solved the problem (at least for me).

I found site on my own, but your link is valid, and you were faster than me posting it. :smileywink:

Thank you anyway, case closed.  :smileyhappy:
