T520: Questions SSD, processor, warranty time

2011-12-05, 20:22 PM

Good afternoon guys,

I bought a Thinkpad T520 last august and I see they still do the offers. I was wondering a couple of things:

1) All the Thinkpads have exactly the same quality as if it was sold without the offer right? No 'lestovers' or whatever... It may seem stupid but i bought 3 years ago a pc with another company (before knowing of thinkpads) that had an offer and the pc was crap, the processor didnt work well...

2) Which model of the Intel SSD do thinkpads come with? Intel x25 M... whatever...

3) All thinkpads T come with intel 2nd gen processors right? Because I think you did a mistake here:

http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/na/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:category.details?current-catalog-id=12F0696583E04D86B9B79B0FEC01C087&current-category-id=7162ACCF009D2872F8BA28660C1EC3B5&action=init

The thinkpad in the center says 2nd gen, the others no. The display type is not complete also... etc

Thanks very much. Keep this great work lenovo. BTW: the keyboard is **bleep**ing awesome. Congratulations.

Don't know about quality of sets on 'offer'. However, I had owned 20 plus sets of lenovo since T40 to now T420s and none of them gave me problem. Except for a X301 that had 3 dead pixels out of the box and lenovo wanted 5 dead pixels to qualify for exchange.

The type of SSD depends on your configuration and the 'luck' during the assembly? I had a X301 with toshiba 1.8" SSD and another with Intel X-18 ssd and some other T series with Samsung MLC ssd and Intel X25 SSD. However, each SSD that I have received on my newer lenovos are comparatively faster.

Yes the keyboard is 'beep' great. But my latest T410s and T420s have the issue of shinny keyboard keys after a while of usuage. None happend in the older X200, X201, T400 etc. Quality must have been dropping on these.

Thank you for answering Ideasmiths,

Have you received always the same keyboard for the T model? Its said that if youre lucky, you receive a keyboard model, an if not, you can receive one that is not that good (i think an Alps).

Thank you very much in advanced!
