Re: T530 wifi problem / WAN Miniport (Network monitor) #2 problem

2013-02-22, 16:24 PM

I also have this annoying yellow sign "WAN Miniport (Network monitor) #2" on W520 with Windows 8. I don't have much problem with wi-fi. Only after full reboot laptop don't see any wi-fi, but after disable and enable adapter in "Network Connections" it finds network. Also Windows built-in troubleshooter shows that laptop has problems with wi-fi drivers. Reinstalling drivers and rolling back don't help.

I uninstalled Settings Dependency Package because have problems with dimmed display when laptop wakes up.

Does anyone have problems with Bluetooth? Indicator of Bluetooth is always on, even though Bluetooth is turned off and disabled in Device Manager.

I have the problem on a B590 and a T410 with W8x64 and it is driving me nuts! I am thinking of returning them for another brand!

Even Lenovo Solution Center is complaining about it!

Shame on Lenovo!

Experiencing Wifi Connection issues with my B580, Win8/64Bit ever since i got it.

Have the WAN Miniport sign goin on...

It seems to me there is a correlation with Windows Update. Whenever there is a new update available after turning the Notebook on, i'm not able to connect to any WIFI Connection anymore.

Troubleshooting sees no problem with that :D

I disabled automatic updates, wifi worked again for 2 days, after turning on the b580 today >> no connection possible

i downloaded/installed the waiting windows update >> wifi works again

Properbly until there is any new update available.

Dear Lenovo Staff,

Having a new Notebook and experiencing persisting WIFI connection problems is EXTREMELY frustrating.

Please fix that fast! Every further day of frustration is the most negative advertisement for your company possible.

Re: T530 wifi problem / WAN Miniport (Network monitor) #2 problem

Hi.

Have had all the same problems with a B580 bought a few days before Xmas - WAN Miniport (Network Adaptor) #2 says "disabled" with a yellow alert shown plus Unknown Device - Drivers for this device are not installed, also with a yellow alert shown. Went round the circles of Device Manager, Windows Updates, Microsoft Support & Lenovo Solution Centre. Done all possible updates from those sources. Since completing any and every update possible including those found via the Lenovo Solution Centre, hurrah,  my problem seems to have miraculously disappeared as no yellow alert signs now in my Device Manager or Lenovo Solution Centre - the latter looks quite a bit different since the update. So well done whoever sorted it................many, many thanks!

Re: T530 wifi problem / WAN Miniport (Network monitor) #2 problem

I also have the same problem - when I look at the device manager for my W520 (a 4270-CTO running Windows 8 Pro), I see the same fault as others have described - the "WAN Miniport - Network Monitor #2" is not working properly. A closer look at the properties for this device reveals that 'Windows cannot load the drivers required (Code 31).

Now, on the positive side of things, I don't even know what the heck a "WAN Miniport - Network Monitor" is, :smileytongue: and my computer seems to work just fine despite the fact that the driver didn't load for this device.

But, that notwithstanding, it would be nice to get the problem fixed, if for no other reason than to get rid of the fault message in the Device Manager.

Would some kind soul here please tell me what a WAN Miniport - Network Monitor is, what it does, and why I need to have such a device functional on my W520?

Michael
