I feel your pain!  Removing Windows update KB2756872 helped a bunch, but after a few days the wireless connection problem is starting to creep up again.  This time I just restarted my DSL (wireless router) and then it finally connected again ...for how long, who knows.?  This is starting to get extremely frustrating!!!  I hope they find out a permanent solution for this problem.  The only good part about it is that it has forced me to learn how to navigate this new Windows 8 POS O/S ...I've never had an issue like this with XP, why break something that wasn't broke!!!

I'm wondering if this problem is only with 64-bit machines and not with 32-bit machines?

you might want to go back to windows 7... my w530 is sheer brilliant on windows 7 pro... and on windows 8, try start8 from stardock, it's just $5 but will give your favorite start menu back just like the good old days...

It's definitely a Windows 8 problem!!!  I have a machine with Windows 7 and no problem there.  But I still prefer XP.

Dear All,

I had fixed the exclamination mark by editing registry. ( Solved )

Change the DWORD from "29" to "9" as below website suggested.

http://sawaal.ibibo.com/computers-and-technology/how-remove-exclamation-mark-against-wan-miniportip-drivers-991432.html

Please be careful that the WAN MINIPORT consists of many types ... such as L2TP, Network Monitor ... etc.

Remember to correct the problem one only, registry backup is recommended

Thanks & Happy New Year !!

So it's been 4 days since I rolled back the driver per my last post.  Wifi has not dropped out.  Still, I don't believe it is a driver issue, rather more like the way the most current driver interacts with Windows 8 after the update listed in my pervious post was installed.

Seems like many users have this issue.  How do we know that Lenovo and Microsoft are aware?  Does Lenovo monitor these forum posts?  I don't want to call them yet, just to have them send a box to ship machine off for who knows how many days to check out.

I'm still thinking that a future Microsoft update might fix this if they are aware.

Sam issue here.  Brand new W530 - ran updates, now this error shows in Device Manager.

I can't fathom that not a single test device at Lenovo has this issue, nor at Microsoft the same thing.  Poor poor users of these products.  Microsoft should just make all the hardware, get a stable driver base, and have the partners make Chrome books

This issues seems to be a result of one or more Windows Updates for Windows 8 that installed.  Out of the box, my 530 was perfect.  It was after two different updates that most of us started seeing the same problem.  I've rolled back my wifi driver, which has kept me online ever since.  The two disabled devices in device manager are devices, I'm pretty sure I do not have/use.

I seem to have solved my problem by taking Cleo_Lenovo's suggestion.  Down loaded the latest wireless network adapters' driver (mine is the Intel(R) Centrino(R) Ultimate-N 6300 AGN) and then uninsting the current driver and reinstalling the new updated driver.  Thank you Cleo!!:smileyhappy:

It has been many weeks since this problem of "T530 wifi problem / WAN Miniport (Network monitor) #2 problem" became known, and it has caused a lot of problems for many users who have just bought new Lenovo laptops.   No solution has been officially offered.  If this problem persists, it would lead to a poor reputation for new Lenovo laptops and would affect the sales of new Lenovo laptops.  Please resolve this problem for both the users and for Lenovo.
