same issue in our environment !

We can start the fwdphb03.exe and a few seconds later an error log is created. The log includes following information:

Version: 2.22.000

Update result: 244

Error description: Read back chip information failed

The update never runs successfully in our environment. Did you get any advice or solution from Lenovo meanwhile ?

Thanks,

Gerhard

Hi.

I upgraded Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro to version 8.01.00. After this I do not have to restart to awaken after sleep, but sometimes it takes ca 1 minute from pressing enter until monitors are awakened.

I've had the same issue detecting the chip while trying to update the latest firmware for this dock.

The firmware download is not working Lenovo. Please update the firmware download guys so it works.

I somewhat solved the issue for monitors disappearing/flickering off. It seems to be related to a grounding issue between the dock, charger, and monitor power supply.

I plugged in the dock to a different circuit than the monitors and so far it's only happened once. There's definitely something still going on here but I wanted to document the issue with the Ultra Dock and x240/T540p etc.

Update to my previous post about identical setups.

I took both docks - one that had this issue, one that did not have this issue - to work where this issue is happening. Hooked them up, and sure enough, the ultra dock at home also had the same issue.

So the monitors going out bug seems related to either the monitors, or power.

Plugged the power supply into a different circuit and this problem is almost gone. Crazy it's some kind of grounding issue, which COULD also be driver related. Lenovo, you've got some stuff here to sort out on this dock.

Re: T540p/T440p+UltraDock+external display issues

The Ultra Dock comes with a 90W power supply that is inadequate for a 3-monitor setup. With the T440p's original 135W power supply my setup is a lot more stable (but the black-outs still happen infrequently). Any other solutions suggested here made no difference.

Unfortunately, I am still not getting much work done. This is very annoying.

Re: T540p/T440p+UltraDock+external display issues

I am updating my comment from yesterday. Just by using the 135W power supply (mine is a candidate for replacement per this note http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht082284) I was not able to resolve this issue, and it got increasingly worse again today, to the extent that the monitors went dark every 10 seconds or so. I turned off the external displays, and the laptop monitor and the LED on the attached cable mouse continued to lose power.

I then plugged a 125W power supply into the laptop, even while docked, and a 90W power supply into the laptop. I have not had a single power issue since.

So that's it with this, there isn't going to be a solution from intel or lenovo? I tried every fix mentioned in this thread. Nothing works. Displays go to sleep they never come back on and it always happens at the worst time.  Been following this thread for months, and I can't believe lenovo hasn't put out something for this.

Re: T540p/T440p+UltraDock+external display issues

The system works better if the memory use is low. I shutdown all windows and some processes that use the most memory (especially Chrome and runtime broker) before sleeping and it seems to help it come back up. Sometimes I need to remove the laptop from the dock then sign in. Other times I need to turn off my external monitors then place the laptop on the dock and power the monitors on one at a time. I got some new display drivers from Lenovo (v 10.18.10.3958, 11/11/2014 http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t540p/downloads) and have been running my two external monitors with the laptop display at the same time and it seems to be better. Still have a few seconds of black screens once in a while. I've even tried having a power supply plugged into my laptop and a second power supply plugged into the dock, but didn't help. I still think it is a memory management issue and not a power issue. I also use 8 GB of virtual memory and I have 8 GB of physical memory.

Is the firmware update available as a bootable CD image? I am a Linux user and cannot use the Windows executable update.

Is there any other way for Linux users to apply the Ultra Dock firmware update?
