Does it happen if you plug it into a voltage regulated power plug?

In my case, I am plugged into 250V mains power. Our mains power is insanely stable here in Melbourne. Besides, it only ever happens on the last 4% of the charging cycle. At all other times it is OK. I doubt a voltage regulated power plug would make any difference. Nice thought though.. :)

Fair enough. I only ask because there was some weirdness with an earlier machine and voltage fluctuations.

Same problem here on Windows 7 since the day I took it out of the box.

If I move the power connector laterally the laptop goes on battery so it seems something hardware. I don't know in your case but in mine the connector moves at least 5 millimeters from far left to far right.

I opened a service request this morning and they've scheduled an onsite visit for next Tuesday after having me check the power connector on the laptop to see if it was firm or loose.

Hi there,

the power connector seems to be an issue as well here.

Still got the issue when I connect USB- devices with no own power suply.

Working is then impossible, anybody has the same?

We will get in contact with the German support as well next Monday.

I will keep you posted about the results.

Hi,

This problem is also present on T440p, with or without a docking station connected. It's especially annoying when using a docking station, because it loses power, and all the devices connected to the docking station gets disconnected (monitors goes black).

Out of the two T440p laptops we purchased at work, both have this issue.

Edit: Could it be related to this? http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T540p-T440p-UltraDock-external-display-issues/td-p/1368847
