@ pfischer

You might like to check out Mark's comment (copied below) on my thread here: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T540p-Intermittent-power-supply-connector/m-p/1405771#M91085. The UK warranty service initially claimed that the power connector was not covered, but eventually they replaced the power socket three weeks ago and my problem disappeared and has not returned.

DAT,
Thanks - from what I understand, we have several suppliers for the internal power socket on the system. Based on testing, we found some minor variances in tolerance with some example connectors from one of the suppliers.
(Much as you suggest)
We have updated manufacturing and service parts, so if a customer has this problem, I would recommend contacting service. We should be able to swap out the connector. There is nothing wrong with the external power supplies (AC adapter).
I appreciate your updates on this thread.
Best regards,
Mark"

See below photo of motherboard voltage drop in during which laptop goes to battery mode:

voltage drop.png

It always drops exactly down to 12.38V for same amount of time, which leads me to believe it is regulator issue in the power cord.

Related problem? I have my brightness settings on battery mode on a lower level than when its plugged in. When my battery is on 100% and I have my AC power plugged in, the light on the power button will blink and the brightness changes for a second every few minutes. The power icon in the taskbar also indicates that the computer is not plugged in for a second at the same moment.
Doesn't seem to be a hardware problem, because this doesn't occur when I only have the AC power connected (even when moving the computer).

Hi all,

I've found a Thread in a Chinese website (http://tieba.baidu.com/p/2850226456) that claims this problem is caused by the AC adapter. You guys can use google to translate that thread.

It claims that, those 135w adapters that are manufactured by Delta (Taiwan China) are all functioning well, and report no such problem. On the contrary, those manufactured by LiteOn might stop working occasionally (especially when CPU's working frequency changes).

Wish those who have Delta 135w adapters could verify such judgement.

Best wishes.

Hey,

I can confirm that with a Delta 135W that one of the problem is solved.

We received our laptops with a LiteOne 135W and we experienced the issue. We ordered by our self a Delta 135W AC for testing and we saw that the problem is gone.

We have reported this to the Lenovo Support, but they told us that they do not want to exchange our LiteOne fautly AC with Delta AC :(

The only answer that we received was (and is): we are investigating the problem.

Great news.

And also the 170w LiteOn Adapter (that normally goes with W-series machines) could function perfectly. It seems such problem only occur with this batch of 135w LiteOn AC adapter.
