Re: T570 SSD failure AGAIN!!!!!!

2018-07-02, 23:23 PM

Thats great but I thought Lenovo laptops were always built with the best parts.... obviously not.....

Even buying the onsite warranty is not worth the money as they expect you to take apart a laptop and exchange parts....

Plain and simple..... AWFUL!!!!!!

DONT buy any T series laptop with an SSD drive.....

2018-07-02, 23:26 PM

I am on my third hard drive in 8 months, or will be on Friday when the replacement part arrives. Added to the fact I have to replace the faulty hard drive with the new one even though I have extended onsite warranty... Don't do it, save yourself a lot of heartache. Either get a non SSD drive or choose another product from elsewhere, you have been warned.....

what are you doing to your storage? I have experienced far fewer failures over 10 years.

I own: T400 T500 X220 running Windows 10 x64 & My X230 runs Linux for my webserver. I also own an Apple MacBook along with an iPad Pro 12.9", both with 256GB SSD

Do you work for Lenovo?

Do you work in IT and if you do, for how long?

If you have never worked for them and have not worked in IT for longer than 20 years please be quiet. I worked for IBM 20 years ago and actually built laptops for them. I have had 4 hard drive failures in 20 years in IT, 2 of them with Lenovo in my current laptop. I have used Lenovo at many companies in the 20 years as they are supposed to be IT developer grade laptops according to two large consultancies I have worked for, which is why I bought the T570. 3 out of those HDD failures have been SSD drives, the 4th was way back when noone knew about the concept of SSD. I have worked for companies for many years before SSD drives and never had an issue. Quite clearly Lenovo has an issue with the quality of what they are putting in their laptops. The simple fact of the matter is that a $3k laptop should last longer than 3 months before the HDD fails.... If you dont agree, please go and reply to other posts and not mine thanks....

I started with an IBM system 360 model 25, my iPhone blows it away for capability but that is what there was back then

Drive reliability is measured by "Mean Time Before Failure". , often over a million hours.  That means that most last a very long time, but occasionally one breaks the first week.

The replacement drive hasn't arrived yet, as I mentioned before - When it arrives I will take the other out and post..... I doubt they will have sent the USB stick to reload Windows so I should have plenty of time to take pics....
