ThinkPad T14 Gen 2 GeForce MX450 problems

2021-08-20, 13:29 PM

I'm starting to be pretty sure that the GeForce MX450 on my T14 is DOA. Already have had a chat with the premiere support and they would be willing to start changing parts. I promised to give one more try with changing drivers etc. during the weekend. Doesn't look very promising...

Anyone else had any similar problems?

- Out of the box, Windows shows and exclamation mark over the NVidia Geforce video adapter in the device manager (device stopped, code 43)

- Tried all kinds on NVidia driver versions. From Lenovo, Win Update and directly from NVidia.

- Nvidia card does not appear in the task manager performance tab.

- When starting NVidia control panel app, app always crashes. (can copy/paste you windows application logs if interested).

- GPU-Z scan can find the graphics adapter, but shows clock, mem, etc. as zero.

- Even tried re-installing windows a few times from blank Win install flashdrive AND using newly created Lenovo Recovery USB.

- All windows/Vantage/etc. updates installed

Anyone seen anything similar? I had a T480 before this with the GeForce MX150. It had it's own problems (throttling because too weak heat management), but at least the graphics card was available for use.

PS. I also have some weird lag with my Bluetooth mouse, but that's most likely not related. That problem may be material for another post.

Hello JarnoF!

Greetings

If a factory reset has been made and still you are having the same issue, the issue is more likely a  hardware issue.

Another option for warranty repair will be under the authorized repair centers near your place.

You can find the list here: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ph/en/partnerlocator

Regards

Yes, I already have a ticket openened. If the machine doesn't magically start working during the weekend, I'll invite the support guy on-site with a replacement mobo or whatever he  decides to replace.
