Thinkpad A485 can only detect HDDs using SATA-adapter.

2019-09-26, 8:24 AM

I recently got ahold of a SATA-adapter for the proprietary hard-drive connector to replace the shipped NVME-SSD with a SATA-HDD or SSD.

At first the adapter worked flawlessly using a regular Samsung 860 EVO SSD. Meanwhile for some reason it stopped recognizing SSDs and only HDDs are being detected on the port. I checked the link connection and the HDD is only connected via 3G (SATA 2) speed. Is this a known issue?

Hi Sellerie!

Welcome to the Lenovo forum discussion!

Just to confirm, did you remove the HDD that came with the laptop and change it with an SSD? If yes, have you tried connecting the SATA adapter with an SSD to another working computer and check the result?
