Thinkpad T14 reboot loop

We encounter issues with all our Thinkpads T14 Gen4/Gen5 that are in use.

We have infinite reboot loops when Logitech C270 webcam is plugged in via USB.

Setup in stationary use:

- Thinkpad via USB-C -> Lenovo Universal Dockingstation

- Two monitors (HDMI or DP->Dockingstation)

- Mouse and keyboard (USB->Dockingstation)

- Logitech Webcam C270 (USB->Dockingstation)

It does not matter where the webcam is plugged in. We have tested direct plugin to the Thinkpad, to the Dockingstation and via the monitor USB.

We have tested out every combination (Without dockingstation, without monitors, without dockingstation, without keyboards, usage with battery only or power supply ...)

The issue remains the same and is reproducable. Once the webcam is plugged out, the Thinkpad boots normally.

This happens only on Thinkpads devices and not on any other machines from other brands. We have tested it on several other laptops (HP/Dell) and different desktop machines (Mini-PC, Tower machines). The webcam causes no issues on them.

We have also tried several new webcams of the same model. So it can be concluded that its not a faulty single device.

Re:Thinkpad T14 reboot loop

From your description, I believe the issue must be something on the laptop side.

Have you verified the latest drivers/firmware/bios is installed? If so, perhaps downgrading to an earlier version may also solve the issue.

Re:Thinkpad T14 reboot loop

The question is what changed, that all new Thinkpads in combination with a Logi C270 have this issue. In the meantime, we installed 3 more Thinkpads and we still have the problem that, when using a C270, every boot attempt results in a boot loop that can only be resolved by deattaching the webcams. The webcams can be connected after the boot is complete with no problems at all.... only the boot process of the notebook is affected. It does not make any difference, whether the webcams are directly connected to the notebook (does not matter which port is used), via dockingsstation or even a monitor that provides USB ports. Even a USB hub does not help. In summary: all (at least 5) new Thinkpads (bought over a period of time) have inifinite boot loop when a Logi C270 webcam is connected. We will test another brand of webcams to see if this is a brand specific problem. We rather use other webcams than not using Lenovo Thinkpads because this is our company wide IT standard.
