Thinkpad T430 will not recognize AC power supply

2018-08-11, 22:18 PM

Hi,

I just bought a new AC adaptor. Non Lenovo branded. So I am sure that my battery is fine, because I am using it with my original adaptor.

New adaptor is working without battery.

But with battery, windows do not recognize new adaptor, its not charging. Also its not saying me that "its plugged in but not charging"  Its just like not plugged in.

I tired uninstall Microsoft ACPI- Compliant Control....

I tried plug in with without battery etc...

Any ideas?

Hello and welcome,

Can you post a link to the new adapter, or post its full specs?  That might help others help you figure this out.

Do you have any battery monitoring software installed, like Lenovo Power Managment? If so please uninstall anything that deals with the battery. Let us know if the problem persists.

My Lenovo adaptor is 90-20.  This, new one is 90w - 12/24V   it automaticly  adjusts.  It is working without battery. But when I use with battery, laptop recognise just battery not adaptor. When I remove battery, laptop shut down

I'll ask again: what is the voltage listed on the tip that you are using on the non-Lenovo adapter?

I am sorry, my english is not good enough. I think i just understand what you say.

I changed the tip and cable with 20V grey color tip, looks exactly same as the Lenovo one.

20V should be correct.  My guess is that when the battery is installed and trying to charge and the laptop is ON (so the load is the highest), the charger voltage sags too much for the laptop's power circuitry.

Perhaps the charger vendor can address the question.
