Thinkpad T430s driver updates etc

2019-04-17, 0:50 AM

Hi all

I hope someone can set me straight on this.  The list of critical driver updates presented to me is quite extensive.  My laptop is working just fine and I'm wondering if I really need to download these?  On the basis of "it's not broke, don't fix it".

I'm just a bit nervous of possibly screwing things up!

Thanks in advance. :)

By the way, there are no missing or out of date drivers showing in device manager.

device manager shows missing, not out-of-date drivers.  Critical updates can be to correct security loopholes, changes to work with OS changes or bug fixes.  I always install them.  There is uswally a readme or at least some release notes.  Read them.

I would like to state that "if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it".

It will ask automatic for any update available - drivers are always free with hardwares. Nutter!

If you click the round "bubble" with the plus-sign in it you can read the details about why a particular driver was updated.

In many cases the update is to fix a security related flaw ....

So (In my opinion) even though it doesn't seem "broken" ...

I can expose your machine to hackers..........

Rather than download 162 updates, some of which I probably don't need, would it be better to just download System Update.exe ?

That's only if you have Windows 10.  I have Windows 7.

I downloaded the System Update package and it didn't find any problems. I also have the Lenovo Solution Center and I ran a hardware scan.  Are you telling me that these are now outdated?
