Thinkpad battery

2014-03-26, 10:23 AM

I have been using thinkpad for years now, but when I keep it on my thighs for little longer, the battery start emitting heat and it all hurts my thighs directly.

I have one suggestion to rearrange battery position, instead of keeping the battery horizontally placed why not keep it vertical and in the center of the keyboard.

please look at the image attached here to get what I am trying to explain.

Hi Vinod,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I’m sorry to hear that you are facing the issue with Battery over heating in your Laptop.

Thank you for the valuable feedback, I understand your concern regarding the issue and sorry to inform you that the change in the battery location may not be possible as it changes the whole schematic of the Laptop. This design has been used in most of the Laptops as this is the best place for the battery placement.

Also please check if the system fan is running properly, and also check with performing the battery gauge reset from Power Management application to get it in stable position.

Please click on the below link to know the default battery configuration.

Click here for more details on the battery issue.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,

Hemanth Kumar

Hello vinodbonde,

Batteries should not get so hot, specially when compared with other areas at the botttom of the laptop. I would suggest checking the serial number of the battery to know if your unit is part of one of the batches recently recalled by Lenovo: http://www.lenovo.com/batteryprogram2014

Battery usually doesn't get that hot compared to the fan/vent area of the laptop.
