TrackPoint does not restore sensitivity levels after sleep T14s AMD

2021-01-17, 7:44 AM

Hello,

I have ThinkPad T14s AMD and I have set my TrackPoint Sensitivity to maximum and it works fine until computer goes in sleep mode. After I wake up the computer the sensitivity is I guess at the default level (slower than my settings). When I open ELAN TrackPoint Settings App it shows the maximum sensitivity as I have set it but in order to restore it I have to set lower sensitivity value and then set the maximum again. This is really annoying. Does anyone knows a fix?

Also if computers is restarted and when switched on it works as it is supposed to.

The problem occurs only from waking up from sleep. I have installed latest drivers and latest firmware from Lenovo.

Thanks,

Asen

Hi t2c00l!

Greetings,

Were there any changes or any updates before the issue started? Can you send the system information, with the OS version and BIOS version on it? Check also if there are pending Windows updates.

Let us know.

I have sent my laptop details on a personal message.

I have this issue since I got the laptop.

I checked for updated drivers with Lenovo Vantage, Windows Update and manually checking versions on Lenovo drivers page. Everything is up to date. ELAN settings app is also the latest version from Windows Store.

Since I got my laptop I have updated TrackPoint Firmware and BIOS twice.

Nothing of the above changed the behavior of the TrackPoint, it still forgets its sensitivity settings after computer sleep.

Windows installed is the one which the computer came with.

Regards,

Asen

Try installing the latest BIOS release and the GPU driver as well. You can get it here: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ph/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t14s-type-20uh-20uj/downloads/driver-list

Update us how on how it goes.

On the device manager, check if there would be a power management tab to uncheck for power saving for the Trackpoint.

See how it goes using a different power setting like full performance.

Check for Windows updates that may have to reconfigure how the input devices should be expected after sleep to apply.

There is no settings like this available for any mouse device for me. And different power setting does not change trackpoint behavior. However, i found one scenario when t14s goes into sleep without this trackpoint issue. If i disable sleep in power settings and keep only "screen disable", after a few minutes of lid being shut t14s goes into sleep (Led is blinking). And after resume trackpoint is fine. Windows completely updated.

Initially, you can try to uninstall if placing the Ultra Nav app to default did not work.

Similar step can also be done as mentioned in this discussion that you can try:
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/T470-Trackpoint-Touchpad-not-working-after-wake-up-from-Sleep/m-p/3854699

We can also explore changing or better yet customizing the advance option in power options if such steps would not work for you.
