Sorry for the late reply - I went into the BIOS and reinstalled Windows entirely, yes. Since then it has been fine, except the screen blacks out temporarily when I plug the power adapter. Also, this was my third or fourth replacement keyboard.

I rarely work on battery these days, so all my TrackPoint problems happed while on AC charger.

Does anyone have the TrackPoint problem on Windows 11? Or is it Windows 10 only problem?

I've upgraded to Windows 11 and switched back to normal Synaptics driver (version .87), no problems with the TrackPoint yet.

I've upgraded to Win 11 on the 2nd of Oct., and I've not seen the issue since (normal Synaptics driver, X1 Extreme 2nd Gen - I did have the issue while on Win 10).

This nonesense has already cost me far too much time, but here I am again. When I paid a lot of money back in August for my new Thinkpad, I did that because I wanted a care-free laptop. Now I'm looking at a possible . Well done Lenovo!

 

Lenovo is suggesting they may take legal action against me. Although I'm considering what to do next, I'll probably be forced to block the fix-trackpoint tool unless someone at Lenovo contacts me ASAP. @Rydeen ?

Do you own a modern ThinkPad? Then your TrackPoint is probably failing too. https://broken-trackpoint.com/ for a workaround.

Because of the the fix-trackpoint tool? Wow. What a customer oriented company. They should pay you and send this tool to everyone as a temporary workaround if they can't fix the problem.

I wish I had a letter. This was during a phone call. And again, they may, apparently this is still under discussion. But once they do decide to persue legal action, I'll gladly share it.

I think you did the community a great service by putting our that exe file for us to use...its been incredibly helpful to use whenver the trackpoint goes down, that instead of having to reboot, in a few seconds, i use your file and the trackpoint works again.

 

i think Lenovo should award you not threaten you and hope the rest of the community stands with you on this

Before retirement, I was responsible for purchasing millions of dollars of laptops per year.  After my first year on an IBM T series in the 1990s, I was a reliable fan.  There was trepidation when IBM sold out but up to this point Lenovo has been better than I expected.

 

The fact that Bitblade has been threatened action appalls me,  particularly since he was the one who came up with a solution after month's of postings were ignored by Lenovo's engineers.   Maybe they are jealous.  They should be looking internally for a scapegoat, not a customer. 

 

Everyone should note that it was verbal threat and would be easily deniable in court.  If there is any follow through on this threat, Lenovo should be the ones to feel the pain.  Ignoring customer complaints can easily be turned into bad reviews everywhere.

 

I for one will be backing Bitblade.
